National Parks in Assam (Updated 2025)

Assam is home to eight National Parks, rich in biodiversity and heritage. The latest addition, Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park, was notified in 2025, making the state a leader in protected areas in Northeast India.

Highlights of Assam's National Parks

• Kaziranga National Park: [translate:এক-শিং গঁড়] (one-horned rhinoceros), tigers, elephants. UNESCO World Heritage. Poaching greatly reduced.
• Manas National Park: [translate:গোল্ডেন লাংগুৰ] (golden langur), pygmy hogs. World's only pygmy hog population. Tiger and biosphere reserve.
